Rashan Card Punjab: What It Is and How It Differs from the Ehsaas Rashaan Program

Latest Update (October 2026): The Rashan Card is a separate Punjab program from the Ehsaas Rashaan Program. This guide explains what the card is, how it differs from the program, who can get it, and how to check it without falling for agent scams.

If you have heard the words “Rashan Card” in your neighbourhood, you have probably also heard a second sentence that confused you.

Someone says it is the same as the Ehsaas Rashaan Program. Someone else says it is a different card altogether. Both cannot be right, and this confusion costs people money when agents step in.

Here is the simple truth. The Rashan Card is a real, separate program of the Punjab government. It is not the same thing as the Ehsaas Rashaan Program, even though both help low-income families buy food.

This guide explains the difference in plain words, so you can tell which one you are dealing with.

What is the Rashan Card?

The Rashan Card is a digital card for low-income families in Punjab.

Instead of a cash payment, the card carries a monthly grocery support balance. You take the card to a Utility Store or a registered kiryana shop, buy your essentials, and the support is adjusted at the counter.

The card is linked to your CNIC. That link is what stops one person from claiming another family’s share.

Eligible families are largely identified from PSER data. PSER is the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry, the province’s own record of household income and living conditions.

If your household record is already in PSER, you may be identified without a fresh application. If it is missing or outdated, that is usually where the problem starts.

Rashan Card vs Ehsaas Rashaan Program: the Real Difference

Think of it this way. The Ehsaas Rashaan Program gives a discount on groceries at Utility Stores and registered shops.

You check it by sending your CNIC to 8123 or 8171. Your NADRA and BISP records decide whether you qualify.

The Rashan Card works differently. It is a card-based monthly support system run as its own Punjab program.

It has its own eligibility record, its own card, and its own way of checking status. Passing the 8123 check does not automatically mean you hold a Rashan Card, and holding a card does not automatically mean you are in the Rashaan Program.

That is the point most people miss. The two programs help the same kind of family, but they are not two names for one scheme.

Who Can Get the Rashan Card?

The card is meant for low-income families living in Punjab.

Most guides mention the same broad criteria. You should be a permanent resident of Punjab. Your household income should be low. Your CNIC should be valid, and your household record should be present in PSER.

Government employees are generally not included. Families with strong financial records, property, or a high income are also not the target of this card.

One honest warning. No single official page currently lists every card rule in one place. Treat the criteria above as the widely reported pattern, and confirm your own case through the official channel before you trust any agent’s version.

How Much Money Does the Rashan Card Give?

This is where the internet disagrees with itself, and you deserve to know why.

Many unofficial guides mention Rs. 3,000 a month for the CM Punjab Rashan Card. Other pages mention Rs. 2,000 a month, but that figure belongs to a different card, the Zakat Rashan Card, which runs under the Zakat system with its own rules.

So when your neighbour says Rs. 3,000 and your cousin says Rs. 2,000, both may be repeating something they read. They may simply be talking about two different cards.

Do not plan your month around either figure until an official channel confirms what applies to your card. Amounts change between phases, and forwarded messages are the worst source for them.

How to Check Your Rashan Card Status

Start with the official route, not with a stranger’s WhatsApp number.

First, check your PSER record on the official PSER portal. If your household details are wrong there, fix them first, because the card record follows that data.

Second, many guides mention sending your CNIC to 8070 for card status. Use this only if the official Punjab channel confirms the number for your phase. Numbers change, and fake numbers spread fast.

Third, visit your nearest e-Khidmat Markaz with your original CNIC if the online route does not work. Staff there can check your record without charging any fee.

Never pay anyone to “activate” your card. Activation is not a paid service.

What If Your Name Is Not in the PSER Record?

Then the card system cannot see you, even if you are genuinely low-income.

Update your household survey through the PSER portal or visit an e-Khidmat Markaz with your CNIC and family details. Make sure your mobile number is registered on your own CNIC, because status messages go to that number.

After updating, wait for the record to refresh before checking again. Checking ten times in one day will not speed it up.

How to Avoid Rashan Card Scams

Every new card brings a new scam, and this one is no different.

No agent can add your name to the card list for a fee. No website can approve your card if you enter your CNIC and pay online. No one from the program will ask for your OTP or bank details on a phone call.

Use only the official PSER portal and the e-Khidmat Markaz. For Ehsaas Rashaan questions, the helpline on this website is 0800-26477, and the official portal is ehsaas.punjab.gov.pk.

If someone guarantees your card in exchange for money, walk away. That guarantee is the scam.

Is the Rashan Card the same as the Ehsaas Rashaan Program?

No. The Rashan Card is a separate Punjab program with its own card and record. The Ehsaas Rashaan Program is a grocery discount checked through 8123 or 8171.

Can I have both the card and the program?

They are separate programs, so one does not automatically cancel the other. Your own record on the official channel is the final answer.

How much is on the card every month?

Figures online differ because different cards carry different amounts. Confirm your card’s amount through the official channel before relying on any forwarded figure.

My card is not working at the shop. What should I do?

First, check that the shop is registered for the program. Then check your PSER record and visit an e-Khidmat Markaz with your CNIC. Never pay a shopkeeper extra to “fix” it.

Do I need a new registration for the card?

If your PSER record is complete, you may be identified from it. If it is missing or outdated, update it through the PSER portal or an e-Khidmat Markaz.
